Joe Winter Reno, Nevada Title: Flounder Vase Year of Creation: 2005 Glazes: Ash glaze wood fired Clay Body: White Stoneware Dimensions: Height 15.25 inches, Width 10.5 inches Artist's Statement: This is one of my Flounder forms that I like to make for wood firing. I call it the flounder form because of its resemblance of the flounder fish except this form swims through the fire in the kiln. The simple lines are accentuated by the fire flowing through the kiln. I love the incredible amount of variables in wood firing that influence the outcome of a single piece. Wood firing for me is an endless exploration in a very natural process.
