Artist's Statement: My work is drawn from Australian indigenous basket weaving which I was exposed to while doing a ceramic workshop in Outback Australia in 2008. This vessel and its organic nature is a response to the indentation I make on it which changes the hard visual exterior of the ceramics to a soft woven like characteristic. The surface patterns are inspired both by the repetition of the weave and by another indigenous artist Gloria Petyarre and her curve-lined rhythmic bush medicine paintings.
