Artist's Statement: This piece was thrown in 2005 and recently fired in Ben Owen's large
Noborigama this summer. I enjoy making very tight forms and then playing with the shape to give it more life. This vase was paddled off center and given a "backbone". Sometimes my favorite pieces from a firing have no added glaze on them at all, just the natural ash from the firing. This firing was mostly hardwood slabs and a bit of pine at the end.
