Laura Korch Ypsilanti, Michigan Title: Two-Tiered Stem Vase Year of Creation: 2005 Glaze: Soda/salt fired cone 10 Clay Body: Stoneware Dimensions: Height 16 inches, Width 6 inches Artist's Statement: Utilizing thrown and handbuilt pieces, I love to assemble and create innovative ways to redefine function. This piece is made to hold one tall stem through the pipe shaped tube and various small stemmed flowers or plants in the drain-like cup. Most vases are created so that flowers are seen as a grouping at the top of the form. With this vase, the viewers attention is drawn to more than one area of the vase, encouraging a new perspective.
