Artist's Statement: While teaching for a semester in Hawaii, I was bemused by the lush tropics and the influence of Asian culture on the Islands. I spent much of my time exploring the botanical gardens and art museums. The body of work produced during this period expresses the combined influences of the natural and social environs that I experienced.
