Malcolm Wright Marlboro, Vermont Title: Wood Fired Triangular Vase Year of Creation: 2004 Glaze: Tenmoku Clay Body: Stoneware Dimensions: Height 9.25 inches, Width 6 inches Artist's Statement: This vase is a wheel thrown then triangulated from the inside. The glaze is made from feldspar, apple wood ash and several sources of iron. It was fired for 30 hours to a temperature of 2400 degrees F in a "split bamboo" type wood fired kiln which is 21 feet long and 6 feet wide. Wood firing allows direct participation in the process. The fire touches and marks certain pots, adding an intangible effect beyond my control.
