Carolyn Roble Columbiana, Ohio Title: Damaged Goods Year of Creation: 2005 Glaze: Lightly sprayed with manganese dioxide, Bell Lichen, Rob's Green and touched up with N.C. clay slip--salt kiln fired Clay Body: White and red jag stoneware Dimensions: Height 22 inches, Width 6 inches Artist's Statement: Working with clay is an adventure. Until the piece is completed, you never know for sure what the outcome will be. This particular piece is an example of this. The one arm separated from the neck. The piece is damaged, yet it still remains functional. Perhaps it is a little more fragile, requiring gentler handling just as people having damaged bodies require more care, but they can continue to work.
