Lene Kuhl Jakobsen Heidelberg, Victoria, Australia Title: Shell Year of Creation: 2012 Glaze: Satiny finish magnesium stoneware glaze fired to 1280 degrees Celsius Clay Body: Fine white porcelaneous stoneware Dimensions: Height 6.30 inches, Width 4.33 inches Artist's Statement: My work is often inspired by sealife such as sea urchins and shells. I consider these forms and patterns gaining ideas for my own designs. I work on the pottery wheel in porcelaneous stoneware clay firing in an electric kiln. The decoration consists of tiny raised dots and the glaze has a satiny finish which gives a tactile just like found on sand - washed shell. |
