Robin Hopper Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Title: Agate Pillar Vase Year of Creation: 2011 Glaze: Cone 10 white porcelain glaze over colored body Clay Body: Three porcelains-white, pink grey and buff orange Dimensions: Height 12.5 inches, Width 4 inches Artist's Statement: This vase, plus others of a similar form and coloration, were inspired by a visit to an ancient roman site in Israel, in the Golan Heights. An unfinished temple had collapsed in an earthquake. Its marble pillars were pink, grey and buff; and lay where they fell almost 2000 years ago. |
