Wilhelmine Rehm (1899-1967)

Marked: Each incised WRehm, as shown, as well as signed Rehm in graphite to the back of each form. This pair was purchased from the niece of the artist many years ago.

Condition: This set of earthenware specimens are in original excellent condition with minor noted color differences over the surfaces from patina build up. There are no chips, nicks, cracks or etc. to confirm.

Dimensions: Each tile wall hanging measures approximately 10 inches square with a minimum thickness of 1 inch.

Notes: The Vasefinder Vintage Gallery is very proud to list this rare set of Pegasus tiles by important American Artist Wilhelmine Rehm. Rehm was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and she studied at Smith College, Cincinnati Art Academy and the University of Cincinnati. She had ties to the Rookwood Pottery, where she worked as an artist for over 10 years. She should be considered a transitional potter, whose roots had ties to the Arts and Crafts Movement through the early stages of the American Studio Movement, where she exhibited at the Syracuse Nationals 5 times over her important career. This is a rare offering of studio work that was purchased directly from the Rehm Family, so the provenance is perfect. Dont's miss!! This set would be a great addition in a WPA decor or Stickley era bungalow.
