Artist's Statement: The life of a woman is a strong powerful existence, one that nurtures and cultivates. My women tell the story of the women who have graced my life and molded me into the man I am. As I mold and create my figures they show some of the power that I have been graced with thanks to their tender hands, this power is then passed to the viewer. Alice Walker once said "and so our mothers and grandmothers have, more often than not anonymously, handed on the creative spark, the seed of the flower they themselves never hoped to see--or like a sealed letter they could not plainly read." My work is my way of thanking these women for passing that spark, I only hope to show a small part of grace, wisdom, and passion I have witnessed.
