Artist's Statement:

A good vase is like a finger pointing to the moon, not to itself.

It would be presumptuous to compete with the beauty and natural wonder of flowers.

A vase is a vessel that points to the glory of the natural world, content to be the background to that which is contained within.

Yet, in the dead of winter, when fresh blooms are scarce, a vase needs to hold its own, to be grand enough to stand proudly alone, calling quiet attention and delight, as well as a reminder of what again may be.

That is the delicate balance foremost in my considerations when I make vases.
