Artist's Statement: As a ceramic artist who works primarily in porcelain fired to cone 12, I enjoy exploring other techniques and temperature ranges. This piece is Raku fired. The copper luster glaze is masked off for the square shapes and poured on to create the biomorphic teardrop shapes. The Raku process is spontaneous, challenging and immediate.
