Artist's Statement: I work with many types of clay (earthenware, porcelain, stoneware) and a variety of firing techniques (raku, cone 6 oxidation, cone 10 gas reduction, etc.) "Asca" was fired in an anagama kiln, in a firing that lasted 96 hours. The exterior of the vase is decorated with slip and the ash and flame from the anagama did the rest.
