Carolyn Roble Columbiana, Ohio, USA Title: Alterations Year of Creation: 2009 Glaze: Cone 10 baby doll satin black and cone 020 copper metal trim Clay Body: Stoneware Dimensions: Height 11.5 inches, Width 8.5 inches Artist's Statement: Alterations is a visual representation of the physical and emotional changes that occur to us as we go through life. We start out as infants molded by our families and environment. As we mature, we emerge as our "own person" creating our life, manipulating ourselves and others as we make decisions. These decisions or choices can set off a chain of consequences that continue to help alter our emotional and physical state just as a sculptor creates a vessel by physically adjusting clay to its shape. |
