Artist's Statement: Recently I have been experimenting with gauze soaked in clay slip that is then wrapped around a wire armature or frame. This piece was then bisque fired and primitively pit fired in wood and sawdust with salt borax, and copper for glaze. This treatment at once gives this piece an ancient feel and look, I think adding many layers of metaphor and interest. To me, it speaks to the erosion of time and has ecological overtones and implications.
