Artist's Statement: Clay's inherent properties are what draw me to the continuing exploration of this fascinating material. Its expressive tendencies and tactile quality has also encouraged me to be mindful of, not only the characteristics and process concerning the material, but the emotive qualities often associated with the Abstract Expressionism coupled with Minimalist forms. I often try to recognize the intrinsic character and beauty of the medium, as well as, respect its natural limitations. I use that thought as a metaphor for our own natural limitations.

Influence, pressure and strain have been the foundation for current works. Reflecting various degrees of external and internal pressures, and how, as a consequence, perception changes. Fascinated by relationship, especially how we think of internal and external realities, I often focus on the dualities of clay and human nature simultaneously.
