Chris Lemmon Dubuque, Iowa, USA Title: Starry Night Year of Creation: 2009 Glaze: Cherry and natural ash Clay Body: Stoneware, paperclay Dimensions: Height 15 inches, Width 11.5 inches Artist's Statement: The foundation of my work is motivated by everyday life and the people I encounter, as well as objects I am drawn to through their form and function. As a means to find my own personal balance, my work covers the spectrum through the creation of functional work that varies between tight, simple forms to loose and organic looking forms. This particular piece was slab built and altered. The torn edges were a result of manipulating paper clay in the leather-hard state. Cherry ash glaze and stains were applied before wood/salt firing. |
