Artist's Statement: Focusing primarily on wheel-thrown functional porcelain, I seek to invoke a feeling of quiet serenity in my pieces. Through the incorporation of line, shadow and texture, I impart a sense of structure and order to the final pieces that convey the plastic potential of unshaped clay. I want my work to embody an idealize sense of beauty by maintaining proper proportion and strong form. I hope to combine beauty and utility in an attempt to enrich the users' daily lives. Creating works in clay provides me with the unique and intimate experience that the interaction with functional art allows.
