Catherine Tamou Eltham, Taranaki, New Zealand Title: Return of Ika Year of Creation: 2012 Glaze: Engobes with natural pigment and mat white glaze liner Clay Body: Stoneware and porcelain Dimensions: Height 24.8 inches, Width 11.02 inches Artist's Statement: Return of the Ika (fish) is thrown and joined stoneware with slab coiled additions. This vase has clay scoots inspired by scoots found on some large fish species. The form itself is fusiform. The rhythmic throwing lines, finger marks, joins and surface treatment all signify the pots journey. |
