David Fry Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom Title: Copper and Iron Glazed Vase Year of Creation: 2010 Glaze: Sang de boeuf overlaid with copper/iron chun, tin and wood ash fired to 1370 degrees Celsius Clay Body: White stoneware with molochite grog Dimensions: Height 10.5 inches, Width 4.5 inches Artist's Statement: This was part of a series I made in simple tall forms for the purpose of bringing out the full qualities of my glazes, this vase has several layers of glaze applied with the top rim being dipped in iron oxide and neat wood ash, fired in a strong reduction to Orton Cone 14/15. |
