Alan Lacovetsky St. Andrews, Manitoba, Canada Title: Waters Edge Year of Creation: 2012 Glaze: Kaki glaze, wax resist, celadon type glaze with copper & cobalt washes, wood fired twice Clay Body: Stoneware Dimensions: Height 6 inches, Width 8.5 inches Artist's Statement: I draw influence and inspiration from my immediate surroundings. Living in a rural area near a large lake (Lake Winnipeg), I find myself naturally responding to water-like imagery. This piece attempts to emulate the constant flow of water at the lake's edge as it washes over the stones. Manitoba has some of the world's most plentiful sources of potable water. It is something we don't take for granted. This is my way to celebrate the life-giving gift we have. |
