Artist's Statement: I throw pots on the wheel, two thousand over 4 months, collect & prepare eight cords of wood & require the help of an 8-person crew to fire the Tye River kiln over 7 days. The pace is glacial by most standards. There is no speeding up possible. The work demands a thoughtful engagement once common in the work force, now rarely tolerated.

I want my tea bowls to speak of this rhythm, the large 4 foot jars to encourage contemplation; to offer a balance to the stress of market technologies. This is perhaps my real work here at the edge of the twenty-first century.
