Artist's Statement: Still in the exploratory stage, my most recent work is largely influenced by my physical environment and my quiet place in this environment. I live in Canada's north. I am part of the northern landscape and its seasons. I experience winter in its many shades of white, green, blue and black. I see windswept snow dunes with hard, sharp rippled and crusted edges. Winter is a quiet time; a time to reflect, take stock, prepare. This seasonal rhythm guides the rhythm of my work. The markings that identify my work are guided by the landscape I experience.
