Artist's Statement: I consider wood firing as a means of decorating with flame. Each wood fired piece tells the story of its firing: where the flame kissed the piece, how the ash drifted across, what pieces may have nestled together or the extreme heat endured. While I make creative decisions such as the form of the piece, whether or not to use glaze and how to place it in the kiln, ultimately it is the flame that completes the work.
