David Fry Sandyford, Newcastle, United Kingdom Title: Tall Vase Year of Creation: 2009 Glaze: Reduction fired chun/wood ash, splash of copper red, fired to 1350C Clay Body: White Stoneware Dimensions: Height 22.84 inches, Width 11.02 inches Artist's Statement: The vase is part of a series I made where I drew into the damp clay prior to firing, the designs were abstract loosely based on Classical themes from Greece. Bisque fired then 3 different glazes thickly applied and then glaze fired in a natural gas kiln , heavily reduced in the earlier part of the firing which took 24 hours to reach temperature (cone15) then cooled slowly for 48 hours before opening the kiln. |
